Wooster Area Park System

The City of Wooster maintains 13 parks, ranging from small neighborhood green spaces to the 223 acre Wooster Memorial Park.

For nature lovers, Wooster Memorial features seven miles of trails and a nursery. Seven miles of hiking trails and picnic pavilions. Horseback riding and mountain biking are prohibited.

For children, the innovative Bob Tuck Memorial playground at Christmas Run Park features a variety of steps, passages, towers, ladders, slides and secret hiding places. Based on the ideas generated by children, the wooden structure was constructed by 1500 volunteers in 1990.

For the athletically inclined, the city's parks include athletic fields and courts, swimming pools and ponds for ice skating. Throughout the year, the parks play host to basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball and flag football leagues for residents of all ages.

The city's parks feature 15 pavilions and a chalet at Freedlander Park that is suitable for wedding receptions and large family reunions. The pavilions, chalet and pools are all available for private use for a nominal fee.
