Wooster City School System
Wooster City Schools serve as centers for learning and recreation for more than 3,900 students that attend one of the 11 educational sites in the district. Wooster's school system boasts a graduation rate of 98 percent and three-quarters of Wooster High School graduates enroll in post-secondary studies.
Students' academic experiences are enriched by opportunities to participate in 29 extracurricular programs and clubs and 23 interscholastic varsity sports teams. The music program provides additional co-curricular experiences. Activities are hosted in state-of-the-art classrooms, the 1,000-seat Performing Arts Center, the Indoor Recreation Center, Natatorium and Indoor Ice Arena.
The Wooster City Schools are particularly proud of their 599 faculty and staff members. More than 52 percent of the teachers have master's degrees. The average length of service is 16 years and school employees have been recognized as Fulbright Scholars and National Board Certified Professionals.
Wooster City Schools believe all students shall have "Higher Achievement Every Year." Evidence of this hard work includes the recognition of Parkview Elementary as a National Blue Ribbon School, Wooster High School as a bronze medalist by the U.S. News and World Report for being one of the best high schools in the country and Melrose Elementay as a School of Distinction by the Ohio Department of Education.
